Applying Critical Thinking: Mastering the Essential Skills

Overview

The two-day programme is specially curated to deliver a pragmatic, real-world application of critical thinking at the workplace, and in life. The framework behind this programme is a culmination of the collective experiences of students, professional and executives the designer of this programme had encountered over the years in his work as a facilitator, coach and management consultant.

There is a myriad of (often convoluted) critical thinking methodologies/processes available. That’s if you are able to unpack what each step in the process expects of you. Simply getting you to practice the critical thinking process without first working on the essential skills – like trying to make beef rendang without first learning how to sauté and braise – is guaranteed to make a mess of the meal.

Learning Objectives

This programme is designed to deconstruct the concepts and practice into core essential skills that supports one’s ability to think critically. The prime objective is for each learner to be able to apply these skills in isolation or in a variety of combinations to address different situations and scenarios. A skill is only useful if it can be used.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the programme, the learner will be able to:

Understand why, when and how to think critically

Demonstrate each essential skill through collaborative learning and activities

Synthesize concepts and skills and apply them to a variety of situations

Apply these skills to a given thinking process

Practice critical thinking process through a variety of real-world exercises
