What the one-day programme covers
1. Make every customer feel welcome and understood
Participants explore their own communication style and practise adapting their first 30 seconds with different customers. Using the DOPE assessment and HELLO + 3A approach, they learn to adjust their pace, explanations and guidance to observed customer cues.
Practice activity: Deliver and refine opening conversations for a cautious appliance buyer, a specification-focused shopper, a smart-home enthusiast and a customer replacing a broken appliance.
2. Discover the real need behind the product request
Participants learn to move beyond “I want a new one” and uncover what a suitable purchase must deliver. They use listening, clarification and selected SPIN questions to understand daily routines, frustrations and priorities, including budget, space, capacity and existing devices.
Practice activity: Uncover hidden customer requirements, identify the three main purchasing priorities and shortlist suitable products.
3. Bring product benefits to life and add relevant value
Participants practise connecting features to customer needs through clear explanations and practical demonstrations. They learn to recommend relevant upgrades and compatible accessories, explain the complete price, and check connectivity requirements before promising smart-product functionality.
Practice activity: Demonstrate a television, washing machine, refrigerator, air conditioner or smart-home device, then explain a suitable upgrade and complementary purchase.
4. Turn customer doubts into confident decisions through stories
Participants practise clarifying concerns about price, usefulness, complexity, compatibility and support. They use Situation–Complication–Resolution and Situation–Opportunity–Resolution storytelling to explain how a product addresses a difficulty or creates a useful improvement.
They also practise summarising the chosen product, total price and agreed arrangements, while respecting customers who need more time.
Practice activity: Respond to objections such as “It is cheaper online” or “Smart appliances are too complicated,” support the response with product information and guide the customer towards a suitable next step.
