Participants explore how personal image influences the guest experience and perceptions of service quality. They examine the connection between appearance, professionalism, guest confidence and hotel brand standards.

Practice activity: Complete the First Impression Challenge, assessing front desk appearance scenarios and identifying elements that create positive or negative impressions.

2. Personal hygiene, uniform and grooming standards

Participants examine hygiene, freshness, oral care and appropriate fragrance, alongside uniform cleanliness, fit and maintenance. They also review nails, footwear, accessories, jewellery and finishing details.

Practice activity: Complete the Head-to-Toe Grooming Check, using a checklist to assess their presentation and identify areas for improvement.

3. Hair, facial grooming, skincare and professional makeup

Participants practise maintaining neat hairstyles and facial grooming, preparing their skin and applying appropriate workplace makeup. They explore how to maintain freshness throughout a shift.

Practice activity: Take part in the Front Desk Grooming Lab, practising selected techniques and receiving peer observation and trainer feedback.

4. Body language, posture and professional presence

Participants develop professional standing, sitting, walking and front desk posture. They practise eye contact, facial expressions, the hospitality smile, gestures and appropriate personal space.

Practice activity: Complete the Silent Hospitality Challenge, welcoming, acknowledging, assisting and directing guests without speaking.

5. Maintaining professional image in guest-facing situations

Participants practise maintaining a polished and welcoming presence during arrivals and check-in. They also explore composure, facial expressions and body language during busy operations and challenging interactions.

Practice activity: Complete the Front Desk Reality Role-Play, covering guest arrival, check-in, VIP arrival, enquiries, busy periods and challenging guests.

6. Becoming the hotel’s professional brand ambassador

Participants learn to align their grooming with hotel brand standards and conduct personal image checks before and throughout each shift. They identify habits that support consistent presentation.

Practice activity: Complete My Professional Image Action Plan, assessing strengths and improvement areas, then setting practical actions for a polished and confident front desk presence.

Practical learning throughout the programme

Participants learn through grooming demonstrations, self-assessments, practical exercises, hotel front desk scenarios and role-plays.

Every module concludes with an application activity. Peer observation, trainer coaching, reflection and personal action planning help participants apply the learning in their daily duties.
